The BMW 1 Series Diesel range

The BMW 1 Series range offers two diesel models; both models feature our new 3rd generation four-cylinder diesel engine.

118d

The 118d is the "World Green Car Of The Year 2008" and the very epitome of BMW EfficientDynamics in action.  This model takes fuel efficiency to new heights, with figures of just 4.7 litres for every 100 kilometres of driving.  Even with its thrifty engine you still have the benefit of 105 kW and 300 Nm of torque.

This 3rd generation four-cylinder diesel engine is the most powerful in its class and produces considerably more torque than any of its rivals. Measured on kilowatts per litre of capacity, it produces more power per litre than most diesel production cars. A high pressure injection system with distributor pump and stepped cams delivers smooth, uncannily quiet performance throughout the power curve, from standing start to cruise.

With power, of course, comes responsibility. BMW's variable geometry turbocharger ensures immediate throttle response for safer overtaking and atomises more fuel to improve consumption and minimise harmful emissions.

123d

The 123d sees the debut of BMW's new 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel with Variable Twin Turbo technology and common rail fuel injection. Maximum output of this all-aluminium power unit is 150kW/204 hp, helping the 123d to 100km/h in 7.0 seconds. With average fuel consumption of just 6.1 litres/100km, combined with a CO2 emission rating of 161 grams per kilometre, the BMW 123d ranks right at the top of its parformance class.
